How to choose quality Bamboo Shades and Woven Wood Shades and Hunter Douglas's New Provenance Woven Wood Shade Program.

When choosing bamboo shades or woven wood shades make sure it is from a reputable company with a long history of manufacturing bamboo shades.  Some bamboo shades will not withhold in high heat temperatures in which the shade with start to bow and bend.  Hunter Douglas or one of it's sister manufactures is going to be better quality and comes with a lifetime warranty from a financially secure company.  The major quality differences of bamboo shades are found in the securing of the backing and if the manufacture uses plastic of metal rings on the back of the shade to secure the cords to the material.  Plastic will crack and break prematurely due to sun damage.  Hunter Douglas also treats all it's natural bamboo shade fibers so they hold their shade.  In addition, their quality control management team inspects every shade before it leaves the manufacturing floor.  This severely decreases the number of shade remakes for Hunter Douglas and it helps the customer receive a quality shade in a timely manner.

Hunter Douglas just revised their entire Provenance Woven Wood Shade Guidelines. One of the biggest changing is their EasyRise Continuous Cord Operation System. They moved away from the old system that most manufactures use which can be very problematic. The new system operates very smooth and uses Hunter Douglas's Common Headrail System.  Below are pictures of recently installed Hunter Douglas Provenance Woven Wood Shades with the EasyRise Continuous Cord Loop Operating System.  The cords are secured by screwing in the cord tensioner for child safety.  The shades below are Veranda - Porch Swing with a white light filtering backing.
